PBNU General Chairman KH Said Aqil Siroj expressed his grief to the victims of acts of terrorism that took place at the Al-Noor Mosque, Christchurch, New Zealand (New Zealand), Friday (3/15). He was accompanied by PBNU Secretary General H Helmy Faishal Zaini and Deputy Secretary General Ishfah Abidal Azis reciting prayers for the spirits of the victims.
"Witnessing and observing the acts of terrorism that took place at the An-Nur mosque, Christchurch City, New Zealand which killed 40 of whom were Indonesian citizens, PBNU expressed the following attitude," he said in the PBNU Building.
First, express the deepest sorrow to the families of the victims for the savage acts that hurt humanity. PBNU called on the Nahdliyin and Muslims to perform the supernatural prayer and offer prayers to Allah that the victims would be accepted by Allah and placed in the paradise of Jannatun Naim. The act of terrorism was an act of being damned by Islam.
Second, strongly condemning acts of terrorism on the basis of any background and actions that use violence against terrorism to spread hatred is not a religion, there is no one religion that justifies violent methods.
Third, asking all citizens to remain calm and think clearly and not provoked, stop any speculation that can make the atmosphere worse.
Fourth, asking all parties to stop the spread of videos containing acts of terrorism atrocities. We respect the families of the victims as well as to avoid being used as an inspiration to irresponsible groups.
Fifth, inviting all parties to develop humanitarian dialogue with the aim of creating a community order, which lives harmoniously in peace.
As reported by Reuters on Friday (3/15), New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed at least 40 people died and more than 20 people were seriously injured in the brutal shooting action.
"It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack," Ardern said. (Abdullah Alawi: nu.or.id)
